#SotraCyphers PART 42 is here! As per usual, I invited a few incredible MCs to my studio to come and do what they do best.
The MCs
Kicking things off we have Pretoria based MC Safari. If you're wondering who this man is, you can find him chilling in the South African Hip-Hop History books along with his partner in rhyme, MC/Producer Power Of Thought (who closes off this episode) as one of the first cats to run the country's first written battle rap leagues, The Art of War - which helped lay the foundation for SA battle rap and featured respected names in the scene such as Gin-I Grindith, Pava Gunz, Illy Amin, Tony Dangler, Kriss Anti-B and a whole lot more. The two SA battle rap pioneers are joined by the super dope Burn, who is an official member of the Articulate Artists collective and hails from Lesotho.
The Beat
I cooked up the beat a day before the MCs arrived at the shoot. The production style was mostly inspired by Eminem's production in the early 2000s. For the intro, I sampled the opening drumkit from the classic Kwaito Trompies joint "Manyonyoba".
Ladies and gents, I present #SotraCyphers PART 42! Watch it here and please don't forget to share and subscribe to my YouTube channel for more SA Hip-Hop content.
